Antikomunistické manifesty

Čtyři knihy, které formovaly studenou válku

John V. Fleming

The Anti-Communist Manifestos. Four Books that Shaped the Cold War. After retiring from Princeton University Professor Fleming devoted himself to his hobby, namely book-binding. Thus he came across a long-forgotten American bestseller: Out of the Night by Jan Valtin. Keeping to his lifelong specialization which is comparative literature and his credo that quality is best seen through comparison he compared this literary discovery of his with two best-known books of this genre and one completely unknown.

He analyzed the four witness accounts written by former die-hard Communists in all regards from the aspect of political science all the way to psychology. With all his academic seriousness he dealt with Dark at Noon by Arthur Koestler, I Chose Freedom by Victor Kravchenko, Witness by Whittaker Chambers and the afore-mentioned long-lost bestseller in the style of spy mystery novel. His story-telling wit makes a perfect thriller full of information that can fully engage the attention of any reader regardless of their knowledge of the topic.
