Maxim Biller is a German writer and journalist with Russian-Jewish roots. Born in Prague, he emigrated to West Germany with his parents and sister when he was ten years old and now lives in Berlin. Biller is a frequent critic of anti-Semitism and his prose works address issues concerning Jews and Germans. His work has garnered numerous awards, and his novel Šest kufrů (Six Suitcases) was shortlisted for the German Book Prize. Czech readers have also been introduced to his work through his translations of the short story collections Obyčejné lásky (Ordinary Loves), Země otců a zrádců (The Land of Fathers and Traitors), and the memoir prose Židovský blues (The Jewish Blues).
